Montanaro launches the Montanaro Global Select Fund, a UCITS Fund domiciled in Ireland

Montanaro Asset Management (“MAM”) is excited to announce the launch of the Montanaro Global Select Fund (the “GSF”) on 30 November 2023.

Building on the success of the WS Montanaro Global Select Fund (“WS-GSF”) in the UK, the GSF will offer European and international investors the opportunity to access the same strategy via a UCITS Fund domiciled in Ireland.

The GSF will be managed by George Cooke, MAM’s Head of Fund Management and manager of the WS Montanaro Global Select Fund.  Despite a challenging environment for Quality Growth investing, the WS-GSF has returned 30% since launch in January 2020 (in Sterling terms), outperforming its MSCI World SMID Cap (Net TR) benchmark by 5.4%*.  George is supported by a team of 39, one of the best resourced specialist teams in Europe.

Like the WS-GSF, the GSF will invest in what MAM believes to be the highest quality quoted Global Small & MidCaps across Developed Markets.  We take an unconstrained, “best ideas” approach to portfolio construction with a target of 30 high conviction holdings.

The GSF will be classified as Article 8 under SFDR.

MAM has invested €5.5 million of its own money in the Fund and intends to remain a shareholder for the long term.

Two share classes will be available to investors (please see table below).  Note that MAM will be waiving Management Fees in full for both share classes until 1 January 2025.The Fund will initially be registered for sale in Finland, France, Iceland, Ireland, Norway and Sweden.

Cedric Durant des Aulnois, CEO, said: “As the purest expression of our Quality Growth investment philosophy, the WS Montanaro Global Select Fund has become increasingly popular with UK investors, having grown to €75 million in a challenging market environment.  I am excited about the launch of a UCITS equivalent to this Fund.  With George Cooke at the helm of both Funds, our investors are in good hands.”

* Return for the A GBP Accumulation share class, from 31 January 2020 to 30 September 2023.
