Montanaro was founded in 1991 as a privately owned investment boutique. Our mission in to be the gold standard of Smaller Companies investing.
We have built one of the world's largest specialist teams of analysts. All of our research and all of the investment ideas we generate are our own.
Smaller Companies are fascinating. In our view, nothing is more rewarding than getting to know the businesses run by exceptional people doing remarkable things.
Unlike larger firms, Smaller Companies tend to be simpler and more focused. It's a sector traditionally overlooked by many investors, which means there are still hidden gems to be found.
About the Fund
We launched the WS Montanaro Global Select Fund in 2020 to harness the breadth of global research we have been undertaking for decades.
There are more than 11,000 small and mid-size companies traded on stock markets globally. We filter this universe before handpicking a portfolio of around thirty companies.
We look for simple businesses that we can understand. They are typically leaders in their industries, often occupying niches in growing markets.
The companies we invest in have strong balance sheets and are consistently profitable. Crucially, they must be run by outstanding management teams that we feel we can trust.

At Montanaro we don't just look for businesses that will generate attractive returns but companies making a positive contribution to society.
We have been applying environmental, social and governance (ESG) criteria to all our investment decisions for over two decades.
